The Tang Meng Hall is a scene restoration of "Tang Meng Yelang fetching goji sauce, and Emperor Wu praises its sweetness.".
In 135 BC, Emperor Wu of Han sent Tang Meng as an envoy to Nanyue (now Guangzhou). At the banquet hosted by the King of South Vietnam, Tang Meng drank a delicious wine called "Goujiang".
Tang Mengting will come - he wants to bring back goji sauce to Chang'an and offer it to Emperor Wu of Han. Tang Meng asked, where does this goji sauce come from? The answer is that goji sauce is produced in Yelang and transported to Nanyue through the Zangke River (now the Beipan River in Guizhou). Tang Meng returned to Chang'an and asked a Sichuan businessman about it. The businessman said, "Only in Shu do we produce goji sauce, but the common people secretly take it to Yelang to sell.".
In order to obtain goji sauce wine, Tang Meng immediately wrote a letter to Emperor Wu of Han, saying that Yelang had 100000 elite soldiers, and it was not impossible to launch a surprise attack on South Vietnam. Emperor Wu of Han agreed and appointed Tang Meng as the Zhonglang General. He traveled up the Chishui River from Bafu Pass (now Hejiang, Sichuan) and met Yelang Wang Duotong.
This is a military operation that changes the historical process of Southwest China. In the kingdom of Yelang, Tang Meng conquered the Yelang King and established counties. At the same time, he also received the goji sauce wine he drank in Guangzhou.
Tang Meng returned to Chang'an with goji sauce. After drinking it, Emperor Wu of Han crazily praised it as "sweet and delicious". Sweetness is sweetness; Beauty is good. Translated into vernacular, it means "This wine tastes so good!" This is the reason why our door couplet says "Tang Mengyelang took goji sauce, and Emperor Wu praised it for its sweetness.".
